Giuliana Rancic is up against a team of A-listers
who think her comments on Fashion Police were inappropriate.
The E! host was discussing actress Zendaya Coleman’s Oscars red carpet look when she said: “I feel like she smells like patchouli oil and weed.”
The next day Coleman fired back at Rancic.
“There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful,” Coleman said on Twitter
. “To say that an 18 year old young woman with locs must smell of patchouli oil or ‘weed’ is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive.”
“There is already harsh criticism of African American hair in society,” the Disney star continued, “without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair.”
Rancic apologized both on Twitter
and on-air at E!
“I’m sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!”
But celebrities like Solange Knowles aren’t buying it.
I can’t help but wonder what the Queen of Controversy, Joan Rivers, would say about all this.
