Good news for Game of Thrones
fans — HBO programming president Michael Lombardo made headlines after proclaiming the hit series will live for at least eight seasons.
officials had previously said the show would end after 70 hours, Lombardo made quite the statement when a reporter inquired about the whole ending after season seven thing at the Television Critics Association’s press tour.
“The question is: how much beyond season seven are we going to do? Obviously we’re shooting six now, hopefully discussing seven — feel like there’s two more years after six,” said Lombardo, “I would love for them to change their minds, but that’s what we’re looking at now.”
Of course, the above statement that Lombardo made is less official and more hopeful — but it’s good to know that the GOT
team has these intentions set for the series.
In the same panel, Lombardo also mentioned he’d be open to a prequel series, defended season five’s violence and confirmed Jon Snow’s death.
Well, this is exciting.
