Tara Reid was captured frolicking on Miami Beach today with friends before the American Pie star’s bikini-clad bod spread like wildfire through the internets. It’s not news that Tara Reid has body issues, but for some reason it is news when she shows her body. Entertainment media outlets from Perez to TMZ all hopped on the chance to highlight Reid’s “alarming thigh gap” and “scary skinny ribcage”. But if you take a minute to look beyond botched plastic surgery and skinny legs this news story becomes nothing more than “happy girl hangs out on the beach with her girlfriends.” Tara Reid Instagram 1 But it’s so obvious in this case that the “concern” media personaities have for Reid’s health is in reality a concern for how many hits their unflattering pictures of a celebrity are going to get. And yes, there is such a thing as thin-shaming and it can be just a vicious as fat-shaming. Thin women get attacked for not having “real bodies”. Sooo, wait now, if you don’t have curves you’re body can no longer be classified as real? Does a thin body cease to exist? Reid addressed this phenomenon last year after a reporter asked her, “There’s a lot of haters from your Instagram post from Thanksgiving, what do you have to say to them?” The star responded with a smile, stating, “I’m just a small-boned girl. I eat, I eat, I eat, I eat. Some people they eat too much, you yell at them, they’re fat…so, get mad at me ‘cause I’m skinny, great, get mad at me. I am what I am.” Despite all the hate Reid has been telling world “she is what she is” by filling up her Instagram with lots of revealing pics in recent months, including a nude back in December. If Reid’s thigh gap is in fact a health issue then that’s up to her to address. If she’s just “small-boned” as she claims, well then like another thin woman once sang, “And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate; Baby I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake; Shake it off.”
