The 87th Academy Awards happened last night — which means this hot topic will monopolize water cooler conversations everywhere. In efforts to keep you up to date, we’re offering you highlights of one of the most anticipated awards show of the year. The Academy Awards were criticized earlier this year for being the whitest it’s been since 1988 (in case you didn’t get the joke). anna kendrick oscars [Image credit: Tumblr] Let’s go back to the singing and dancing — he did a great number and was joined by queen of the musicals, Into The Woods star Anna Kendrick. julie andrews lady gaga [Image credit: Tumblr] A huge highlight was Lady Gaga’s incredible Sound Of Music medley and a surprise appearance from Maria herself — Julie Andrews. Since social progression, feminism and equality are trending in our world (finally), Patricia Arquette nailed her speech when she won supporting actress for Boyhood and dedicated the win to womanhood. Also, John Legend performed ‘Glory’ and made everyone cry. tegan and sra [Image credit: Tumblr] The big wins of the night were as follows: Birdman for best picture, Eddie Redmayne for actor in a leading role, Julianne Moore for actress in a leading role, JK Simmons for actor in supporting role, Big Hero 6 for best animated feature, The Grand Budapest Hotel for Cinematography, Selma for original song, The Imitation Game for adapted screenplay and Interstellar for visual affects. Ellen didn’t break the Twitter this year, JLaw didn’t fall and that’s what you missed at the 2015 Oscars. Thoughts? Feelings? Say it with a comment below.
