Miley Cyrus is using her celebrity status for a good cause by establishing an LGBTQ-friendly charity called the Happy Hippie Foundation
. The organization’s aim is to raise awareness about issues affecting homeless youth and other at-risk populations, including LGBTQ teens.
And no celebrity-startup would be complete without a slew of famous faces to back up the initiative. The “Bangerz” singer – who inadvertently identified as queer in a recent AP interview – has enlisted Joan Jett, Ariana Grande, Laura Jane Grace from Against Me! and Melanie Safka to lend a hand. Fans can look forward to their performances on the Backyard Sessions – a music series exclusive to Facebook that is filmed in Cyrus’ backyard.
“Pointless judgment and its effects are unfortunately something that is way too common. All humans have valid feelings and rights! I want to use my voice as a megaphone to young people everywhere and encourage human evolution,” she said in a statement. “No one should have to hide who they really are, no matter what his or her name, gender or status. That’s why Happy Hippies are here to say that every life is valuable!”
While Cyrus is encouraging the youth of the world to be true to themselves, Kylie Jenner is injecting her lips full of collagen.
The 17-year-old admits to using fillers to plump up her pout because she’s insecure about her appearance as a result of the judgment that comes with being a reality star.
“Everyone always picks us apart,” she says in this Sunday’s episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians
. “I want to admit to the lips, but people are so quick to judge me on everything, so I might have tiptoed around the truth, but I didn’t lie.”
Hollywood is known for its unattainable beauty standards, but one can only image how much higher the stakes are when growing up in the most superficial family in Tinsel Town. What do you think – do you feel bad for Kylie, or is she using her lips as a platform to further her fame? Leave a comment!
