Lizzie Borden’s return to TV: Christina Ricci reprising the dark role

After the success of Lizzie Borden Took an Ax in 2014, Lifetime is bringing back Christina Ricci for an eight-part series about the life of the notorious young woman who was acquitted in the 1892 murders of her father and stepmother. The Lizzie Borden Chronicles premieres this Sunday and will focus on the fictional life of Borden after the acquittal. I know what I’ll be doing this long weekend: snacks, wine, and Lifetime! If ax murdering isn’t your cup of tea, consider watching one of these other epic made-for-TV movies this long weekend. Gia Before Angelina Jolie’s humanitarian missions and marriage to Brad Pitt, she starred in HBO’s TV movie Gia. The movie follows the life of Gia Carangi, a top model in the 1970s who died from AIDS at 26. You might want to have some Kleenex handy for this one. Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story Lifetime’s Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story is based on Liz Murray’s autobiography, Breaking Night. The movie focuses on Murray who lives in the Bronx with her sister, drug addicted and schizophrenic mother, and drug addicted father who is suffering from AIDS. After being removed from her home and put into the system, she moves in with her mother and sexually abusive grandfather. She quits school, runs away, but after hearing of her mother’s death becomes a star student and eventually makes it to Harvard. Again, Kleenex is necessary. Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy Another Lifetime great is Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy. The story explores Geralyn Lucas’ fight with cancer including the difficult decision to undergo a mastectomy. It is based on Lucas’s memoir of the same name, which refers to the idea that only confident women wear lipstick.

Leia Smoudianis is a west coaster freezing her bum off in Toronto. The former (yet still very bitter) server is now selling vacuums on The Shopping Channel and hoping to get adopted by the Kardashians.
