For every young girl – and every woman in her thirties, for that matter – Frozen is kind of a big deal, and Avery Huffman is obsessed with it. When Kristen Bell heard about Aves’ diagnosis of diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), an inoperable type of brain cancer, she got into full-blown Princess Anna mode to turn her young fan’s day around.
The video, which has over one million views, shows adorable Avery listening to the message, and stirring in her seat with excitement and surprise and, just as a warning, it’s going to get those tears following at the 0:06 mark.
“Hi Avery! This is Princess Anna of Arendelle! I just wanted to call to say hello,” says Bell, in character, as Avery’s face immediately lights up with surprise. Later on in the voicemail, Bell declares her young fan to be the new honorary Princess of Arendelle.
The Huffman family has been documenting their daughter’s journey through treatment on social media, including Twitter (#AveryStrong), YouTube and personal blog on CaringBridge, which is run by her father, Brandon. As of now, Avery has surpassed the halfway point of her scheduled radiation treatments, with 13 more sessions to go.
As for Bell, Veronica Mars creator, Rob Thomas, told fans at this year’s Comic-Con that both he and the actress are down for a second VM movie.
“Kristen’s game. I’m certainly game. Kristen and I have talked about possibly doing a second movie or taking it out as a short run series. A Veronica MarsTrue Detective is really appealing to us.”
If you’re like us and you’re still struggling with the disgusting reality that one of the greatest shows to ever happen was cancelled so prematurely, you should tune into iZombie, which is Thomas’ latest brainchild for the small screen. The lead character, Liv Moore, has a lot of the same spunk as Ms. Mars, and the show is the perfect watch to satisfy your marshmallow cravings until V makes her highly anticipated return to Neptune.
