Kate Hudson and her brother, Oliver, were slapped with a serious diss on Father’s Day when their father, Bill, publicly announced he has disowned them.
Bill’s harsh decision wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment impulse. Instead, it was triggered by Oliver’s ultra burn of an Instagram post on that same day, which showed a picture of young Ollie and his famous sister with their estranged father, with the caption reading, “Happy Abandonment Day.”
“Oliver was just trying to be funny by posting that comment,” a source close to the family tells Us Weekly
. “In retrospect, he probably should have thought twice before putting that out.”
Bill blames two people for the dead relationship he has with his eldest kidlets: his ex and the mother of Oliver and Kate, Goldie Hawn, and Hawn’s long term lover man, Kurt Russell.
“When we split up, she never had a bad word to say about me, but when Kurt came on the scene, the narrative changed and I became the big, bad wolf,” Bill told Daily Mail
. “I would say to her, ‘Goldie, why are you trashing me and saying I’m an absent father when it’s simply not the case?’ and she’d laugh and go ‘Oh Bill, you know it makes for a better story.’”
BH later adds that Russell’s intentions were to keep him out of his children’s lives so he could nab the title as Dad No. 1.
Kate and Oliver aren’t the only famous tribe to severe family ties…
‘member Angelina Jolie’s tarnished relationship to her papa, Jon Voight? Angie held a serious grudge for her dad because he was a selfish and neglectful father when she was growing up. Last year, Voight was spotted hanging out with his gaggle of grandchildren, but resentment still lingers and Angie holds her father at arm’s length.
Wanna know why there’s so much anger fueling Christina Aguilera’s epic song, “Fighter”? We have her estranged father to thank for the passion behind that sweet jam! The songstress says the last time she spoke to her pops was in 1999, and she kicked him to the curb because of the emotional and physical abuse he inflicted on her, as well as her mother and sister. In 2012, Aguilera mentioned she was considering a reconnection, but nothing has been put in place.
Jennifer Aniston and her mom, Nancy Dow, have had a rough go in the past, although the pair continues to work on their rocky bond. The Cake
starlet says her mom was extremely critical of her appearance and behaviours as a child, in addition to having a ranging temper that triggered verbal outbursts and hysterics. Dow wrote a book about her relationship with her famous daughter, From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir
, which goes into detail about the course of their connection.
