It’s not only Fifty Shades
fans that are pining to see star Jamie Dornan onscreen. Back by popular demand, the actor will be reprising his role as a serial killer in the third installment of the BBC2 series, The Fall
. Also confirmed to return is actress, Gillian Anderson, of X-Files
fame, who’ll be once again carrying the badge of Detective Stella Gibson.
The British crime drama follows the story of Detective Gibson and the serial killer she pursues, Paul Spector (Dornan). While The Fall
has received its share of backlash for the depiction of violence against women
, it’s UK viewership reached 3.6 million for the season 2 finale.
The show has also been a critical success, winning multiple awards, including a ‘Breakthrough Award’ for Dornan from the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards.
Despite these achievements, Dornan’s role on the series has not been a walk in the park. The actor and former underwear model claimed that he felt emotionally scarred after portraying the sexually motivated murderer, Spector.
“You can’t fail to be left slightly scarred by inhabiting someone like that for two seasons. I do carry elements of him with me in a worrying way. I find him relatable … I have a deep understanding of him and why he is why he is,” said Dornan.
Oh my…and we thought those tense moments in Fifty Shades
were shocking! The five-episode season of The Fall
will likely be released next year.
