This week fans of The Simpson’s will be able to enjoy Homer’s favourite beer in real life — as it’s been announced that 21st Century Fox is making the famous fictional brew available in the commercial market.
While Springfield’s favourite brand of beer has been available in theme parks in the past — it hasn’t been available on the commercial market. Though bootleg versions of Duff Beer have popped up randomly worldwide, Fox is set to launch their official brand of Duff Beer in Chile this week.
But if you’re from Europe or other parts of South America — your wait will be until next year, as the company doesn’t plan on expanding until 2016. There are hopes to make this Duff Beer available commercially around the world in the future, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Jeffrey Godsick, 21st Century Fox’s president of the media company’s consumer product division, has been battling piracy of the fictional brew for a while now. And despite not being the type to frequent Moe’s Tavern, he has sampled the Fox-liscenced Duff Beer.
“It’s a premium lager,” Godsick said, “It’s got a good balance of flavour and refreshment to it. It’s fairly deep golden in color. It’s got a hint of fruit to it. It’s got a caramel aromatic to it.”
