Season five of Game of Thrones
premieres next Sunday, April 12th
and Emilia Clarke is already in character.
The actress, who plays the mother of dragons Daenerys Targaryen, posed for the cover of Vogue
in her character’s signature platinum blonde hair. The natural brunette has said in the past that the blonde hair inspires her acting.
“Every night the wig comes off, you’re like, ‘Aww.’ I can feel my energy going,” she told The Los Angeles Times.
The upcoming season of the show will focus on Daenerys’ rise to power and struggle with her dragons. In this next season we will also get to see more of Jon Snow and his leadership at the wall, but don’t start drooling just yet. Actor Kit Harington finds his hunk status “demeaning.”
“To always be put on a pedestal as a hunk is slightly demeaning,” Harington told Page Six
. “It really is and it’s in the same way as it is for women.”
The 28-year-old says he didn’t get into acting to be objectified.
“I’m in a successful TV show in a kind of leading man way and it can sometimes feel like your art is being put to one side for your sex appeal. And I don’t like that,” he said, adding: “In this position you get asked a lot, “Do you like being a heartthrob? Do you like being a hunk?” Well, my answer is, “That’s not what I got into it for.”‘
Preach Kit! The struggle is very real for both male and female entertainers.
