Imagine being 23 and already having a successful career under your belt. Now imagine leaving that behind to start something totally new. That’s what supermodel Cara Delevingne is about to do!
In an interview with London’s The Times
newspaper, the Victoria’s Secret model candidly spoke about what pushed her to make the decision.
“I was, like, fight and flight for months. Just constantly on edge,” she said. “It is a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse.”
The British star says the work-related stress affected her physical health as well.
“I am not doing fashion work anymore, after having, like, psoriasis and all that stuff,” she said. “Modeling just made me feel a bit hollow after a while. It didn’t make me grow at all as a human being. And I kind of forgot how young I was…I felt so old.”
Despite her huge success in the modelling world, she says her first priority was always to act and make music. Her first major flick is Paper Towns
and it’s set to come out next summer. She’s also signed on to be a part of Suicide Squad
, which comes out in 2016.
And if you think this is just a PR stunt, think again. Delevingne has already left her agency, Storm Model Management. We’re excited to see what the future has in store for this multi-talented Brit, but we have a feeling she’s going to be just fine, like these other stars who also transitioned from their original successful careers.
