Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough created something incredibly special on “Dancing with the Stars” recently with their heartfelt and utterly tear-jerking tribute to her late father, Steve Irwin. She made a point of recognizing the fact that her father has been deceased nine years and how strange and ultimately sad it is to think he has been gone that long. The dance became easily one of the most poignant moments ever on the popular long-running dancing show.
The dancing between both Bindi and Derek were smooth and timely and even though it wasn’t perfection, you couldn’t help but become immersed in it’s stunning beauty. The dance was done over a cover of The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” and you can only imagine the reaction from the crowd, somber yet joyful at the very same time.

Emotional and Poignant
During the pre-recorded segment, Bindi made a point of shutting her ears so she could focus completely on the dance at hand. Hough said he did the same thing because the attention was so intense on that specific dance that it was the only thing he could do to concentrate effectively. He knew that the final outcome would be totally emotional and you can believe that his premonitions were no doubt correct.
By night’s end, Bindi and Derek’s dance had earned her a score of 28 out of 30, which just so happened to be the highest score of the entire program. She was quoted as saying, “You have to remember that that emotion is just a part of life, and we all have to deal with different things, but you have to find that beauty in every day”. Her words couldn’t be more impactful coming from someone so young with a full life ahead of her.
He Will Always Be in My Heart
She made it point to say that her father was an extraordinary man and most certainly humble, always believing in his family and the fact that they must always come first. Bindi said “Tonight, it was just all about remembering the fact that dad is always with me, and I carry him in my heart.”
